This is a charming pair of early 20th Century Bronze Bouillotte lamps. Both Bouillottes are in overall very good condition. We have rewired and updated the electrical fittings on the lamps; otherwise, the bouillottes retain their original elements: adjustable tole shades, finials and shade arrow screws. Although these lamps are diminutive, they pack a big decorative punch. The bouillottes can be incorporated into multiple design settings---bedside table lamps, desk lamps and a refined French study setting. Bouillotes of this age that retain their original tole shades in this superb original condition are a true find.
**A bouillotte lamp is a classic French-style table lamp characterized by its adjustable metal shade, multiple candle-style arms, and a dished or notched base. Originally created in 18th-century France, the lamp was specifically designed to illuminate tables for a popular gambling card game called bouillotte (a game similar to modern poker) without blinding the players.
