An original Italian pen and ink drawing, signed and dated 1993, depicting a solitary ancient gnarled tree with twisting trunks, delicate foliage, and a small stump nearby. Rendered on warm-toned paper, the fine linework and rich shading emphasize the sculptural beauty and timeless character of the aged tree.
The reverse bears a handwritten Italian dedication to Padre Roger (Father Roger), expressing gratitude for his guidance during a peace mission in America. The inscription begins, “Un frammento della mia anima” — “A fragment of my soul” — and appears to be signed by Brother David.
Elegantly presented beneath glass with a wide ivory mat in a substantial wood frame featuring aged silver and warm bronze tones, retaining its original patina.
A distinctive original work that brings together fine Italian draftsmanship, historical interest, and timeless character.
