Pair of Italian wall lights from the late 1960s, combining natural onyx with softly diffused opaline glass. Each sconce features a central curved opaline glass diffuser framed by two sculptural onyx side elements, creating an elegant contrast between translucent stone and smooth white glass.
The restrained geometric composition reflects the refined vocabulary of Italian Mid-Century Modern lighting, while the natural veining and subtle tonal variations of the onyx give each piece an individual decorative character.
A period label referring to Pietrasanta, Tuscany, remains on the reverse. Pietrasanta is historically associated with the artistic working of marble and stone, making this label a particularly interesting element in relation to the quality and material character of the onyx components.
Both the onyx elements and the opaline glass diffusers are intact. Each wall light is fitted with one E14 socket and is wired for use in the EU, UK and USA.
Dimensions per light: Height 26 cm / 10.24 in; Width 18 cm / 7.09 in; Depth 6 cm / 2.36 in.
