Offered is an exceptional example of traditional 19th c. Chinese craftsmanship: a square Elmwood (Yumu) Kang table, perfectly proportioned at 30" x 30" with a classic 15" low-profile height. Originally designed for elevated platform living in Northern China, this piece seamlessly transitions into a modern home as a sophisticated cocktail table, low coffee table, or focal floor piece. Qing Dynasty era.

The table features an intricate, hand-carved geometric fretwork top centered by a beautiful circular Shou medallion—the classic Eastern symbol representing longevity, health, and good fortune. Constructed from highly celebrated Northern Elmwood (Yumu), the piece showcases a spectacular, prominent wavy wood grain with a rich, warm patina.

True to centuries-old Chinese carpentry methods (Sunmao), the table is entirely hand-built using complex, hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joints, completely avoiding the use of modern metal nails, screws, or brackets.

Excellent antique condition. The delicate lattice fretwork is pristine and entirely intact, with no missing segments, chips, or shrinkage gaps. The structural integrity is rock-solid with no loose joints or wobbling.
