A striking pair of Chinese ceramic guardian lions, commonly known as Foo Dogs, finished in a vibrant turquoise-blue glaze. Each figure features an expressive face with an open mouth, prominent eyes, sculpted facial details, and decorative raised elements along the body.
The rich turquoise glaze displays beautiful tonal variations and fine surface crazing, adding depth and character to the sculptural forms. Each guardian lion stands on a rectangular pedestal base with decorative cutout details.
Traditionally associated with protection, prosperity, and good fortune, these decorative figures make an attractive statement displayed together on a console, mantel, or entryway table.
The undersides reveal unglazed ceramic surfaces with no identifiable manufacturer’s marks.
