A dark burgundy and brown contour frames the face, while the tilted head leaves the figure poised between a frontal view and a profile.

Without defined facial features, the portrait draws its character from posture, colour and the relationship between its planes. Dark, angled shoulders anchor the figure against a textured grey-blue background, with discreet red accents punctuating the composition.

Worked in successive layers with palette knife and brush, the oil paint reveals traces of earlier colours. The textured surface brings depth and subtle variation to the simplified geometric forms.
