with its restrained palette, angular forms and simplified figure, the work captures the visual language of cubism while retaining the character of swedish modernist painting of the 1950s.

gertie lidberg was a swedish artist active in the medelpad region and was married to the celebrated swedish artist and botanist rolf lidberg (1930–2005). The couple were closely connected to the artistic life of sundsvall, where they ran the gallery during the 1960s.
