Made from premium "solid" Jasperware - where the iconic pale blue colour is mixed entirely into the liquid of the clay body rather than dipped - these pieces showcase an exquisite matte, unglazed biscuit finish. The exteriors are beautifully adorned with crisp, neoclassical white relief scenes adapted from 18th-century designs by sculptor John Flaxman. Elaborate lion-head masks holding heavy grapevine and fruit festoons connect the central motifs, which feature classical Roman sacrificial offering scenes and a deity driving a horse-drawn chariot across the sky.
