This striking French Art Deco sculpture, titled "Danse Paienne" (Pagan Dance), is a classic emblem of 1930's Parisian avant-garde decorative arts. The piece was designed by renowned artist Marcel Bouraine under his dedicated art-metal pseudonym Derenne, and cast by the legendary Parisian foundry of Max Le Verrier.
The figurine dynamic features a balanced nude female dancer capturing the fluid movement, poise and geometric elegance to the Art Deco movement. Fantastically cast in Le Verrier's proprietary high-grade fonte d'art alloy, she exhibits the workshop's signature deep chemical green patina. The figure holds two dark balancing discs and stands seamlessly on a solid square plinth of Noir Belge (Belgian Black Marlble), still fitted with its antique green protective felt base - see image.
Standing at 26cm high, this authentic period casting perfectly captures the glamour and timeless sophistication of early 20th-century French sculpture. It makes a premier addition to any curate modernist interior or high-end collection. This piece has an attribution mark,
