Paul Segieth
Painter, draftsman, illustrator.
Apprenticeship as a decorative and church painter.
Studied at the Breslau Academy of Art (under Hans Roßmann, Ignatius Taschner, and Hans Poelzig).
In 1911, he moved to Munich, where he frequently sketched acquaintances, friends, café patrons, and more. Segieth was part of the Schwabing bohemian scene, associated with the "Café Stefanie."
As early as 1910 (Vol. 15, Issue 32), but especially intensively from 1911 (from Vol. 16, Issue 32), he worked as an illustrator for the magazine "Jugend" (his last illustrations appeared in 1938 (Vol. 43, Issue 27)).
During the First World War, he served in the 8th Bavarian Infantry Regiment.
from 1918 to 1923, he received several commissions from industrialists and landowners for portrait paintings.
In 1925, the Rhein-Main-Donau AG commissioned him to paint the Kachlet Dam near Passau and a depiction of the future port for Nuremberg-Fürth for the transport exhibition.
In the following years, he primarily created landscapes from the area around Munich.
In 1943, he moved to an old farmhouse on the Samerberg. The area around the Samerberg became a major influence on Segieth's work.
