this fine chest of drawers is a model known to have been made in the north of england in the mid to late 18th century, the architectural columns flanking the drawers being a hallmark of pieces made in this part of the country at the time. The chest has two small drawers above three graduated full length ones, each retaining their fine gilt brass swans’ neck handles. The top is nicely moulded on its edges and each one of the drawers is cockbeaded. It stands on bracket feet. This chest has a wonderful original colour which isn’t easy to photograph. The chest is very unusual to us as it has hardly been used and in incredible condition for its age.
