Jeré ’69, this owl-on-branch sculpture is a distinctive example of Artisan House’s early decorative metalwork. Its curved metal body, textured wings, curled ear tufts, and vivid blue eyes give the woodland subject an expressive, modern silhouette.

Individually formed metal talons grip a slender branch, while delicate budding offshoots extend the composition outward. Warm gold and copper tones contrast with darker surface detailing and an irregular pale stone base, creating a rich balance of texture, color, and form. The branch-mounted owl lifts out of the stone base for convenient storage and separate packing.

C. Jeré was the shared design name of Jerry Fels and Kurt Freiler, who established Artisan House in 1964 following their collaboration in jewelry manufacturing. Fels directed design, while Freiler oversaw production. Together, they developed sculptural metalwork ranging from intimate tabletop objects to expansive wall compositions, becoming closely associated with American Mid-Century Modern interiors.

Dated 1969, this example comes from Artisan House’s first decade of production. Its composition corresponds to documented signed owl-on-branch examples from the late 1960s, and it retains the C. Jeré signature and date on the reverse.
