This impressive pair of vintage Chinese candlesticks is crafted from gilt bronze, featuring a rich, dark patina with bright gold (gilt) accents on the raised details. Each candlestick is modeled with a flaring, lotus-petal drip pan at the top, a central bulbous knop, and a domed base.
The central knop is decorated with high-relief, openwork carvings of mythical beasts (including the "Four Great Divine Beasts") surrounded by scrolling cloud motifs. The base is adorned with a band of stylized bat motifs, a traditional Chinese symbol for good fortune and prosperity.
