This impressive vintage Chinese brush pot (bitong) is crafted from solid bronze, featuring a rich, dark patina with highlighted details that accentuate the deep relief carving. The cylindrical body is decorated with a dynamic scene of a traditional Chinese dragon, depicted in profile amidst stylized clouds and waves, chasing a flaming pearl.
The brush pot is framed by a key-fret (meander) pattern around the top rim and a scrolling floral band around the base. The high-relief casting gives the piece a sculptural, tactile quality.
