Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic 19th-century handcrafted Indian wedding/dowry trunk (Pitara), likely originating from Rajasthan. Built from solid teak wood, it features hand-forged iron structural
strapping, a prominent iron centerpiece latch, and decorative diamond-shaped metal plating. The wood has an incredible, deep timeworn patina. The lid opens to reveal a clean interior featuring a traditional built-in side till compartment once used to secure jewelry and valuables. At 30"L x 18"D x 21"H, it functions beautifully as a rustic coffee table, blanket chest, or entryway focal piece. Shows gorgeous historic character with minor missing decorative metal plates consistent with age (see photos).
