The figure is depicted with a delicate genre lyricism, typical of French decorative sculpture of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The boy is dressed only in short trousers with a belt, has an ornately modeled belt across his torso and carries a small bag at his waist. The overall expression of the statue seems tender, melancholic and very decorative.
