The front consists of a pair of doors with plastic reliefs of female heads in an oval cartouche surrounded by ornamental volutes. These figural mascarons are typical decorative motifs of Renaissance and early Baroque furniture and have appeared in architecture and furniture making since the 16th century. The upper part consists of two drawer strips with distinctive plastic carving, complemented by metal handles. Below them is a pair of cupboard spaces with a shelf. The construction is robust and traditionally carpentry, which corresponds to older European buffets intended for representative interiors of bourgeois houses or aristocratic residences. Vertical pilasters with leafy decor and a richly profiled cornice are also characteristic. The whole stands on a plinth base. The top has a decorative inlaid finish with contrasting framing, which emphasizes the architectural division of the furniture. This type of furniture is based on Renaissance designs by French masters inspired, for example, by the work of designer and carver Hugues Sambin, whose ornamentation influenced the appearance of luxury furniture in France and the Netherlands. Buffets of this type have been a common part of representative interiors in France and Belgium since the 17th century and were often used to store dishes, silver or tableware. Preserved pieces made of solid walnut appear today on the European antiques market and are among the sought-after historical furniture.
