The body, rendered with a controlled roundness, expresses the tender grace characteristic of Rococo putti, and the light drapery around the hips emphasizes the purity of the forms without ever constricting them. The posture, both dynamic and restrained, evokes the compositions of Edme Bouchardon, whose art knew how to unite the truth of movement with ideal elegance. On its warmly curved pedestal, the sculpture exudes an intimate, almost confidential presence, as if the bronze child were holding the secret of an interrupted gesture, suspended in time.
