A towering, exceptionally elegant mid-century Balinese modernist sculpture depicting a graceful temple maiden standing atop an organic, multi-layered lotus base assembly. Standing a dramatic 23½ inches tall with a sleek 4½-inch width and a 3-inch depth profile, this sculpture is masterfully chiseled from a single block of premium tropical hardwood, exhibiting a rich, uniform golden-honey coloration and highly elongated Art Deco contours that emphasize her fluid, sweeping silhouette. The figure is beautifully composed with her head gently turned in quiet meditation, her hands held high in a classic devotional mudra as she cradles an intricate, high-relief lotus flower stalk against her shoulder.
The wood features extraordinary, authentic material character. Running across her left cheek and temple is a thin, highly unique white mineral line—a completely natural calcification deposit that formed inside the timber cells as the tree grew, providing a beautiful aesthetic hallmark of native origin. The upper apex of the lotus stem assembly showcases a magnificent, fully finished natural growth termination point, where the artisan masterfully sculpted the design to run completely out of wood right at the native boundary of the original log. The underside of the base is meticulously finished with traditional scalloped tool gouging and holds the hand-chiseled vintage provenance mark "MADE IN BALI." This independent sculpture shows a beautiful hand-burnished satin luster that pops dramatically under showroom lights. This heirloom-grade masterpiece is in 1,000% flawless vintage condition, completely free of any structural hairline cracks, chips, surface splits, or repairs. An elegant, substantial centerpiece perfect for anchoring high-end bookshelves, executive mantles, or luxury interior collections.
