Pietra dura (Italian for "hard stone") – "Florentine mosaic," the art of laying pictures and ornaments from tiles of hard stone (agate, chalcedony, jasper, lapis lazuli, as well as mother-of-pearl and coral).

Unlike classic mosaic art using colorful cubes or sticks, the pietra dura technique uses precisely fitted pieces that correspond to the larger fragments of the composition. Mastic serves as the adhesive. Finished mosaics are polished to a mirror finish, resulting in particularly durable and long-lasting decorative surfaces. The pietra dura craft flourished in the 16th century, especially in Florence. Even today, small souvenirs made of pietra dura are produced in Florence.

Because this pietra dura table is handcrafted, you are acquiring a unique piece.

This one-of-a-kind treasure is not mass-produced, but rather a high-quality, handcrafted item with many lovingly crafted details. All parts are made of stone and brass.
