A single-door antique painted wardrobe crafted from choice fir wood, beautifully dated 1818 on the upper frieze alongside the initials of the original commissioning owner, “L. S.”. The structure features a disciplined architectural silhouette, distinguished by canted corners and prominent moldings on both the crown and the base, with the latter resting gracefully on classic bun feet.
The facade is dominated by a warm, rich brick-red background, which perfectly contrasts with geometric panels executed in a sophisticated powder blue hue, masterfully framed by white and red pin-striping. The central shaped panel of the door hosts two symmetrical bouquets of flowers bound by a delicate ribbon, painted with a vibrant palette centered around orange, crisp white, and leafy green tones. Intricate floral motifs further adorn the corners of the door, the canted sides, and the lower drawer integrated within the plinth. The period hardware includes a finely crafted wrought-iron escutcheon and exposed external hinges, adding to its luxury appeal and preservation of original patina.
Restoration and conservation work carried out on all our pieces:
– Structural restoration: seamless integration of minor missing parts, structural reinforcement of the back panel gaps, consolidation of weathered areas, and thorough assessment/repair of period hardware.
– In-depth, meticulous anti-woodworm treatment.
– Thorough cleaning and sanitization of the interiors.
– Exterior finish enriched with natural beeswax to elevate the original patina.
– Interior finish protected with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish.
