Hand-carved in his signature primitive style in Mt. Sidney, Virginia, this dynamic set includes a large, boldly striped predatory fish and a smaller prey fish titled "Pollywog."

Drawing direct inspiration from antique North American ice-fishing spearing decoys, Derrow brings these pieces to life with vibrant, hand-painted details. The large 15-inch fish features an olive-green shaded head, contrasting black-and-orange vertical stripes, precise dot patterning, and a bright pink mouth. A unique row of looped metal wire forms the dorsal fin, echoing traditional decoy metalwork. It stands elevated on a sleek, matte black wooden pedestal base.

The smaller companion piece, "Pollywog," is rendered in a textured charcoal-black wash with contrasting striped fins, standing on a rustic, natural tree-slice round base.
Both pieces are meticulously documented by the artist on their undersides with hand-written inscriptions:
Large Fish Base: Inscribed "Y. 2025 / Ronald Derrow / Mt. Sidney, Va / B. 1944"
Small Fish Body: Inscribed "2024 / 'Pollywog' / Ronald Decoy / Derrow"

Perfect for Americana collectors, rustic lodge mantle displays, coastal cottages, or modern eclectic gallery shelving, this multi-tiered set offers immediate visual interest and structural height.
