Moza - Harvest in the Field. Oil painting - Hand-signed - 1996. Author: Moza - artist unidentified. Suggested title: Harvest in the Field. Date: 1996. Signature: “MOZA 96”, in the lower right corner. Technique: oil on canvas. Dimensions with frame: 32.5 × 38 cm. Dimensions without frame: 15 × 21 cm. Country of origin: undetermined. Period: 1900–2000. Style to select: Naïve art. Theme: rural landscape; harvest; agricultural workers. Small oil painting on canvas depicting an extensive agricultural landscape during harvest time. Three peasant figures, distributed in the foreground and background, work among the tall vegetation of a cereal field. In the distance, small white houses, trees, and undulating terrain can be seen, framed by a mountain range represented in lilac tones. The composition unfolds through well-defined horizontal bands: the yellow field occupies most of the surface; the mountains establish the horizon line; and the sky presents an intense gradation between yellow, orange, and red. This simplified division of space, the reduced scale of the figures, and the free and unnaturalistic use of color are characteristic of Naïve art. The field was constructed through short, repeated, and overlapping brushstrokes in yellow, ochre, white, and lime green, creating a vibrant and textured surface. The figures and houses are treated meticulously, almost graphically, contrasting with the freer brushstrokes of the vegetation. The result is a luminous and decorative image, marked by the idealization of rural life. The work features a wide and deep frame, in reddish-brown wood, with an inner band painted in cream and gold. The frame has considerable visual presence relative to the small size of the canvas.
