This antique Portuguese … Read more Set of 6 fish cutlery pieces in 833/1000 silver and gilded metal - Javali II, Portugal, 1887–1937. This antique Portuguese set of six fish cutlery pieces, comprising three knives and three forks, dates from the period of use of the Javali II hallmark (1887–1937). The handles, in 833/1000 Portuguese silver, feature neoclassical decoration with a fluted body, oval reserves, vegetal elements, and embossed motifs. The respective hallmarks are located at the junction with the blades. The three knives have gilded blades with a scalloped profile, profusely engraved with representations of fish, vegetal scrolls, and ornamental motifs. The three forks, also gilded, have four tines and engraved decoration of the same inspiration, forming a particularly decorative and unusual set. The combination of the white silver handles with the gilded elements creates a very elegant visual contrast, characteristic of tableware from the late 19th/early 20th century. Shows signs of use consistent with its age.
