A newly refinished mid century modern oak credenza / sideboard with rattan paneling by Jack Cartwright, made by Founders in North Carolina c. 1970s.
The cabinet rests on a recessed plinth base, giving the substantial case a slightly floating appearance. A beveled front edge adds definition to the otherwise clean, rectilinear form.
Two columns of dovetailed drawers provide generous storage and make the piece equally suitable for use as a dresser. Each drawer is fitted with sculpted brass hardware, small enough to remain understated but substantial enough to add a visual accent to the drawer face.
The central doors are finished with woven rattan panels and minimal hardware, preserving the uninterrupted look of the front. They open to a large interior storage compartment with an adjustable shelf.
This piece has been professionally refinished and recaned. The rattan was left natural, with neither stain nor lacquer. It will age to a soft amber color with time.
