An incredible, one-of-a-kind (OOAK) mid-century modern studio fine art sculpture featuring a highly stylized double sided wooden American Bison (Buffalo).

This exceptional piece is a hand-carved, double-sided relief sculpture set into a custom-fitted solid wood display base. It was created by the noted mid-century fine artist, printmaker, and art professor Herbert H. Sandmann, who spent his prominent academic career teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). The underside of the base features his authentic handh-stamped signature, "H. SANDMANN".

Beautifully hand-carved from a premium, lightweight studio carving wood (likely Basswood or Fine-Grained Pine), allowing the piece to display substantial visual size while remaining remarkably light and elegant at just 1 lb 10 oz. See less
