Large horizontal bistro/brasserie mirror in reverse-painted glass, Belle Époque period, circa 1900-1910.
The border is composed of multiple panels of painted and gilded glass on the reverse, using the reverse technique of reverse-painted glass: a lozenge-shaped latticework punctuated with gilt cabochons, foliate scrolls, draped female figures in classical style, and winged putti playing music positioned in a central frieze at the top. The ornamental vocabulary blends Art Nouveau and Neoclassical styles, characteristic of the decor of grand Parisian brasseries of the period. The outer frame is made of molded wood with gilt decoration. The large, landscape-format central mirror has a silvering in perfect condition, without any alterations. The entire piece is original, with no reported alterations. Dimensions: 202 cm long × 102 cm high × 3 cm deep. Weight: 50 kg. Transport and hanging will be arranged using equipment appropriate for the size and weight of the piece. Delivery is not included.
