An elegant pair of flamingos in gilt bronze, mounted on concrete bases that mimic rock formations. Made around 1940 by Bronces de Arte Zumel. The birds are depicted in a searching pose, with their long necks curved towards the ground and their legs stylized in an extremely refined manner. The treatment of the bodies, reduced to clean volumes and polished surfaces, along with the incisions that simulate plumage, reflects the style of Art Deco animal sculpture.

The pieces were made in Spain around 1940 by Bronces de Arte Zumel, a workshop and publishing house specializing in lamps and artistic bronzes, which opened its doors around 1920 on the first section of the Gran Vía in Madrid. During the first third of the 20th century, this iconic avenue became one of the capital's grand showcases of luxury and modernity, concentrating select shops, jewelers, and prestigious artisan workshops. Objects from the Zumel workshop are a fine reflection of the technical quality, ornamental design, and decorative refinement characteristic of Madrid's golden age of commerce during that period.
