A striking matched pair of generously scaled French Provincial bombé commodes, each measuring an impressive 51 inches wide. Their curving silhouettes, tall cabriole legs and richly modeled ornament give the pair the kind of presence that works beautifully in a large bedroom, dressing room or other symmetrical interior.
The original finish is a warm creamy ivory with soft pale-yellow undertones and intentional antiqued shading that settles into the relief work, emphasizing the elaborate floral and scrolling decoration. The ornament continues across the shaped drawer fronts, aprons and side panels, making the commodes especially attractive from an angle rather than simply straight on.
Each commode offers four functional drawers—two shallow upper drawers and two generous full-width drawers below—for a total of eight drawers across the pair. Dark metal hardware provides a handsome counterpoint to the light finish.
Remarkably well preserved, the pair retains its original, unaltered finish with no evidence of repainting or repairs. The drawers are exceptionally clean and operate smoothly.
Unmarked; manufacturer and country of origin are unknown. Dating to the 1990s, the design draws from French Provincial and Louis XV Revival traditions with Rococo-inspired ornament.
Sold as a matched pair.
Each measures 51"W × 19"D × 34"H.
