A delicate ceramic set for personal hygiene, consisting of a washbasin and ewer, made in the first quarter of the 20th century in England. The ewer features a body with a sinuous profile, a narrow neck, a pouring spout, and a side handle. All three pieces share a printed decoration that reproduces a network of irregular veins in brown and gray tones on a white background, imitating the appearance of marble or veined stone. This type of set was commonly used in bedrooms, on a dressing table or washbasin, before the widespread availability of running water in homes. The ewer served to hold and pour water, while the washbasin collected the water used for washing hands and face.
