This unique and early prototype of the Banet Dining Chair has been used for photography and several fairs. Its made in the same way as the production chairs, except for the foam in the seat, which in this sample is made out of regular furniture foam instead of bio-based and the yarn, which is polyester instead of cotton.
Otherwise it`s completely functional and in a very good condition.
The upholstery is made from Savian by BioFluff, a plant-based fur replacement made out of flax and viscose. with a martindale of 20.000 it`s suitable for residential use. This color and version has been discontinued.
with its well-defined curves and inviting presence, the Banet Dining Chair offers a refined balance of comfort, strength, and familiarity. Designed to endure, it stands as the world’s first mycelium-composite dining chair approved for contract use. It marks a milestone in sustainable furniture design and establishes itself as a true design icon.
Mycelium is the underground network through which forests communicate. A branching web of threads that binds, nourishes, and renews. Combined with Hemp fibre, Mycelium grows into a material of surprising rigidity, warmth, and textural depth.
The manufacturing process, in the Netherlands, is as harmless to people and the environment as the material itself, being completey free of toxins or synthetics. And at the end of its life, each piece of MBC composts fully, returning to the same earth that made it.
The final product is a solid, dry, and inert product. It contains zero live biological agents, zero active spores, and no organic matter capable of regeneration. The product poses no phytosanitary or bio-security risk to the importing country. Labeled by Maker
