Such bags were used not only for transporting and storing objects, but also often as part of the furnishings of the dwelling, seating textiles or decorative elements on festive occasions. The front side is made using the rug technique in wool on a wool warp and bears a distinctive geometric composition in the Turkmen spirit. The central field is formed by a regular network of square motifs divided into color fields in muted shades of burgundy, brown, blue-green and ochre. The distinctive orange border is decorated with a repeating stylized ornament, which gives the entire composition rhythm and a very characteristic expression. The preserved textile finish with stripes (kilim part), woven geometric bands and the original back part of the bag is particularly interesting. This detail well documents the original function of the object and distinguishes it from an ordinary rug fragment. This chuval is authentic and bears natural signs of age and use. The pile is slightly uneven in places, but the whole is preserved in very good condition without major damage. The color is harmonious and well preserved. It is a decoratively and ethnographically interesting collection piece, which well illustrates the traditional method of production and practical use of sack textiles in the Afghan-Turkmen cultural circle.
