model 109 armchair designed by ole wanscher and manufactured in denmark by france & daverkosen in the 1950s, complete with matching footstool. The wooden frame is defined by slightly sloping legs and slender armrests, connected to the uprights by soft curves that lend a seamless profile. The seat and backrest are made of large padded cushions, with the backrest featuring a discreet capitonné finish. The footstool echoes the design of the frame and seat, maintaining the same visual proportions and upholstery. The footstool measures 60 × 43 × 49 cm (w × h × d). Among the protagonists of danish modernism, wanscher developed a style strongly rooted in the cabinetmaking tradition, reinterpreted through lighter proportions and a progressive simplification of forms. In the 109 model, the precision of the joints and the large openings in the frame visually lighten the armchair, leaving the wood's design clearly visible. The wool upholstery is original from the period.
