an elegant waltham traveler savonette pocket watch (with a protective cover or hunter case) featuring a gold-plated case, porcelain dial, and 17-jewel movement; made in the usa in the early 20th century.
this elegant and impressive piece is a classic example of a waltham watch company pocket watch. It features an elegant porcelain dial with roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute scale marked in five-minute intervals, and a sub-seconds dial. Both the front and back covers open via a screw-down system.
opening the back cover reveals the waltham brand name, the "17 jewels" specification, and the gold-plated finish. A unique serial number engraved on the movement allows the watch to be dated. The clean, linear "waltham" signature typeface is characteristic of late 19th- or early 20th-century production.
