Upholstered … Read more A beautiful, albeit inaccurate, pair of round poufs in the napoleon iii style, dating from the early 20th century. Upholstered in corduroy in a warm ochre-brown hue, they feature tufted button tufting in a medallion pattern with recessed central buttons, typical of the decorative repertoire of the period. The base is adorned with a double trim of pinkish-beige fringe, composed of a scalloped braid with arched motifs and a wide, hanging fringe, lending the style its distinctive character.

the original handcrafted construction is visible beneath the base: burlap, cardboard, and period staples attest to authentic traditional craftsmanship.

the two poufs differ slightly in size—a common characteristic of handcrafted pieces from this era.
