This iconic side table nicknamed "spider" in the art deco and functionalism spirit dates from the 1930s in czechoslovakia, was designed by the prominent designer jindřich halabala, and manufactured by up závody (model h-259). The primary artistic concept of this legendary piece of furniture stems from modernist principles of utility, dynamics, and master craftsmanship in bentwood. The architectural design of the entire table is built upon a square top with elegantly rounded edges, from which four characteristically curved and splayed legs resembling spider limbs extend downward, giving the object maximum stability, optical lightness, and an unmistakable timeless expression. The charm is complemented by a black glass plate embedded in the upper surface, which in combination with the warm grain of the beech wood creates a refined visual contrast.
the item has undergone a complete, highly professional, and sensitive restoration combined with thorough professional cleaning and the revitalization of the original polish. Experienced restorers have thus successfully restored one hundred percent functionality and maximum aesthetic appeal while preserving absolute historical authenticity, subtle patina, and the high collector's value of this world-renowned piece of czechoslovak design.
thanks to its renowned modernist origin, top-tier craftsmanship by up závody, and utterly timeless design, this table serves as a highly prestigious and fully functional element in a modern interior. It stands out perfectly in a representative living room next to a sofa set, in a luxury library, a study, or as a breathtaking design solitaire in a space emphasizing interwar functionalism. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
