The Eiffel is an elegant example of Hammerborg's distinctive approach to Danish modern lighting, combining geometric construction, contrasting colour and carefully considered reflection of light.
The pendant is constructed from seven concentric metal rings. This original colourway comprises four inner rings finished in copper lacquer, while the three outer rings are black lacquered on the exterior and orange on the interior.
When illuminated, the orange inner surfaces reflect a warm, atmospheric light through the spaces between the rings, while the black outer surfaces give the pendant its strong graphic silhouette. The result is a piece that functions as both a sculptural object and a carefully considered light source.
with its compact proportions of approximately 25.5 cm in height and 18 cm in diameter, the Eiffel works particularly well as a single pendant or as part of a group.

Design & Production
Jo Hammerborg joined Fog & Mørup as head of design in the late 1950s and went on to create an extensive and highly influential body of Danish lighting for the company.
The Eiffel is documented as a 1963 design.
