A beautiful and unusual vintage danish trompet two-light pendant / chandelier, designed for fog & mørup.
the trompet first appears in the fog & mørup catalogue in 1963. The designer is not specified in the catalogue, and the design was produced in several configurations, including one-, two- and three-light versions.
this example is the two-light variation, featuring two large organically shaped opal glass trompet shades, combined with elegant teak components.
the opal glass shades are associated with holmegaard glass factory, whose danish glass production is an important part of the appeal of these early scandinavian lighting designs. Trompet glass variations were produced by holmegaard from the late 1960s into the mid-1970s.
the combination of softly diffusing opal glass, warm teak and brass creates a particularly attractive example of danish mid-century lighting.

the chandelier is in very good vintage condition and in full working order, with the expected minor signs of age and use.

the remaining glass, teak and metal components are in good vintage condition.
vintage danish design
the trompet is an especially appealing example of the collaboration between danish lighting manufacturers and specialist glass producers during the mid-century period.
its appearance in the fog & mørup 1963 catalogue establishes the design firmly within the company's 1960s lighting range, while the holmegaard-produced glass variations continued into the later 1960s and 1970s.
the combination of fog & mørup manufacture, holmegaard opal glass and solid teak makes this two-light version an attractive collector's piece and a distinctive statement light for a contemporary interior.
