Muted shades of blue, olive green, warm brown, and golden beige lend the artwork a gentle, atmospheric quality. Signed “Don Micklethwaite” at the lower right.

Scarborough-born artist Don Micklethwaite studied at his local School of Art and worked as a picture framer and restorer before becoming a professional artist. His exhibition history includes the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal West of England Academy, and the Royal Society of Marine Artists.

The substantial frame features a deep reddish-brown wood-tone finish, layered molding, and gold-tone trim surrounding a textured, linen-look liner. Its rich finish and tailored detailing beautifully complement the painting’s warm palette.

A charming addition to a traditional study or a thoughtfully layered nursery, where its peaceful nautical subject and soft colors would bring warmth and character. See less
