About the Maker

Silvano Signoretto (1948–2021) was a highly accomplished Italian master glassblower whose career on Murano spanned more than five decades. Beginning his training at a remarkably young age, Signoretto worked alongside several of Murano’s important glass masters and became particularly respected for his exceptional technical abilities. He later established his own studio and collaborated with internationally recognized artists and designers, translating complex artistic concepts into technically demanding works in glass.

About the Item

This impressive signed Silvano Signoretto Murano sculpture is a large-scale example executed using the triple sommerso technique, in which multiple layers of colored glass are encased within a substantial exterior layer of clear crystal.

Standing approximately 14 inches high and weighing more than 12 pounds, the piece has exceptional presence and demonstrates the considerable technical skill required to manipulate such a substantial mass of molten glass. The sculpture is incised “Silvano Signoretto” on the polished base, confirming its attribution to the celebrated Murano master. See less
