Salterini during the 1960s, presented with a coordinating vintage round cocktail table and side wrought iron plant stand.

Among the most expressive American outdoor designs of the midcentury period, Tempestini’s Radar chair transforms wrought iron into a light, dynamic composition. A dramatic circular frame surrounds two individually curved panels of expanded metal mesh, forming the chair’s sculptural back and seat. The flat-bar cantilever base provides a subtle springing motion while giving the chair its distinctive floating profile.

Complete groups of four matching cantilever chairs have become increasingly difficult to find. Unlike the more commonly encountered stationary versions, these chairs retain the celebrated bouncer construction that makes the design both visually compelling and exceptionally comfortable.

The five-piece ensemble has been newly recoated in a period-inspired vintage teal using rust-resistant paint. The saturated blue-green finish accentuates the sweeping frames, geometric mesh and unmistakable atomic-era silhouette while remaining appropriate for indoor or outdoor placement.

The coordinating circular cocktail table features an expanded-metal top and complements the airy construction of the chairs. Its generous proportions anchor the four-chair arrangement without obscuring their sculptural lines.

Striking from every angle, this rare matched group offers the scale and visual unity required to furnish a substantial terrace, veranda, conservatory, poolside setting or modern interior. It is not merely a collection of patio furniture, but a complete midcentury composition by one of Salterini’s most important designers.
