The architectural apron is ornamented with classical floral medallions, laurel branches, carved scrolls and deeply molded corner blocks. Four substantial turned and carved legs feature latticework, floral decoration and gilt-highlighted foliate details, terminating in distinctive metal paw-form casters. Two additional slender center supports provide stability beneath the generously scaled top.
The thick cream-colored marble top has an elegant shaped perimeter with molded edges and attractive natural variations in tone and veining. The combination of richly carved dark wood, restrained gilt decoration and pale stone gives the table a particularly handsome Old World presence.
Its generous proportions make it suitable as a library table, center table, writing table or dramatic console in a traditional or collected interior.
Approximate dimensions:
75" W × 58" D × 35" H
Condition: Vintage condition with visible wear consistent with age and use. The wood base shows scattered finish losses, chips, abrasions and areas of exposed underlying wood, particularly along the apron and carved details. The marble exhibits natural variations as well as surface marks, discoloration/staining and other signs of use. Please review photographs carefully for condition. The existing wear contributes to the table's aged character. See less
