This vintage Whittemore-Sherrill club chair and ottoman are upholstered in rich oxblood leather, with gracefully rolled, pleated arms and a tailored banded base. The chair is built on eight-way hand-tied springs, the gold standard of upholstery construction. It's generous proportions and deep seat make it incredibly comfortable, the kind of chair you sink into and don't want to leave. The matching ottoman rolls on casters for easy positioning, making the set perfect for a library, den, or reading corner.
Whittemore-Sherrill is the leather division of Sherrill Furniture, a family-owned maker founded in 1945 in Hickory, North Carolina, the heart of American fine upholstery. Sherrill is a longtime favorite of interior designers and is known for traditional handcrafted methods, including kiln-dried hardwood frames and hand-tied springs. Pieces like this were sold primarily through designer showrooms and were built to last for generations.
