Inspired by a Roman marble copy of a Greek bronze from the late 4th century BCE, the sculpture depicts an idealized classical athlete with beautifully modeled features and proportions. The fragmented torso, softly weathered ivory coloration and aged surface treatment give the piece the appearance of an excavated antiquity displayed in a museum collection.
RH crafted the sculpture from a cast stone and resin composite, expertly finished to replicate the patina and character of weathered stone. It is mounted on a minimalist black metal support and square black base, providing a dramatic contemporary contrast to the classical form.
The original RH identification label remains underneath the base and identifies the sculpture as Antinous Farnesio Bust NATL, Item No. 10038614 NATL / 3109-0148.
This model has been discontinued by RH and is no longer available, making it an especially appealing decorative object for a collected, classical, contemporary or European-inspired interior.
