An extraordinary early 19th-century American Federal tilt-top candle stand crafted entirely from highly figured tiger maple. The rectangular one-board top features elegantly shaped cut corners (cloverleaf / scalloped design) and showcases intense, luminous figure with rich, warm amber patina.
The top tilts fluidly via its original tilt-top mechanism and brass thumb catch, resting atop a finely turned urn-and-ring central pedestal that anchors three delicate, arched tripod legs. Authentic beeswax fill in the screw holes attaching the top.
Condition:
Good antique condition consistent with age and history. Shows light surface wear, scratches, and age-appropriate character marks to the top surface. Underside structural joinery is secure with older minor stabilization near the base joinery visible upon close inspection underneath. Tilting mechanism functions smoothly and latches securely.
