The columns are accented with gilt metal mounts, including ornate Corinthian-style capitals with scrolling acanthus decoration and gilt metal collars at the bases. Each is surmounted by a substantial green marble display platform suitable for sculpture, urns, floral arrangements, or other decorative objects. Elegant architectural proportions and the dramatic combination of green marble and gold-tone ornament give this pair a grand European neoclassical appearance. Heavy and substantial. Visible age-related surface wear, scratches, patina and losses/wear to the gilt finish; one lower gilt collar has a visible small hole/opening.
