The figure features the classical idealized profile, elaborate curled hair and laurel-like sculptural detailing associated with Apollo, set above a richly carved draped garment in dark brown and black veined marble.

The contrast between the smooth pale marble face and neck, more textural treatment of the hair, and highly polished dark marble drapery gives the sculpture exceptional visual depth. The garment is carved with sweeping folds and a decorative round clasp at the shoulder, while the bust rests on a dark marble socle base.

Substantial in scale at approximately 27 inches high, this piece makes a commanding focal point on a console, pedestal, library table or entry cabinet. Its mix of Classical, Neoclassical and Grand Tour influence works beautifully in traditional, collected and contemporary interiors alike. See less
