A matched set of four Danish dining chairs made by Vamdrup Stolefabrik in the 1960s, newly reupholstered in a Maharam commercial-grade textile in Comet, a vivid chartreuse.
The frames are solid teak, with the sled bases and open side profile typical of the best Danish chairmaking of the period. Seen from the side, the back appears to float between two tapered uprights, and the base runs in a single continuous line from front leg to back.
The upholstery is new, including the tufted backs, which keep the original button pattern. The textile is from Maharam, the New York textile house that has supplied leading architects and designers for more than a century. It's commercial grade, made for heavy daily use, and the color is true to the bold palette of 1960s Scandinavian interiors. Against the teak, the chartreuse makes the chairs look intentional and current, so they can carry a room without looking like a reproduction.

The solid teak frames are sound and stable, with tight joints and no wobble. The wood has a warm, even patina consistent with about sixty years of age, and the finish is intact. Any minor marks are limited to the light wear you'd expect on authentic mid-century pieces [list any specific nicks, scratches or touch-ups, e.g., "a small scuff on one back rail"]. The chairs have been fully reupholstered, seats and tufted backs, in Maharam Meld (466387) in 029 Comet, a commercial-grade textile made for heavy daily use. The upholstery is new and has not been used since the work was done. The button tufting on the backs follows the original pattern. The four chairs match in finish, upholstery and proportion. less
