With clean lines and a darkly lacquered finish, this square corner cabinet celebrates the restraint of classic Chinese furniture forms. Dated to the early 20th century, the slender cabinet is minimal and unadorned - save for its original brass hardware and faded traces of the original painted doors.
Tailored like a good suit, the cabinet has been modified to a narrowed frame in keeping with traditional joinery methods. The double doors open to reveal two shelves and an interior drawer, while an exterior drawer provides additional storage below. A black lacquer finish accentuates the silhouette, now richly textured by a century of use.
