This is a striking pair of vintage cloisonné enamel guardian lions, crafted in the traditional style of Beijing lions (Jing Shi), auspicious beasts believed to attract wealth and ward off evil. Each lion features a fully gilded head, mane, tail, paws, and facial features in bright gold, contrasted against a vibrant red cloisonné enamel body. The bodies are densely decorated with multi-colored scrolling floral motifs and vines in shades of yellow, blue, green, and purple. The pair is classically posed: the male lion (on the right) rests his paw on a pierced, openwork golden brocade ball, symbolizing dominion over the world, while the female lion (on the left) playfully tends to a gilded cub, representing the nurturing of future generations.
